There are about 1,600 high schools in the state. Of the 150,628 AP exams in Illinois that earned a 3 or higher, approximately 3.5 percent (4,973) came from Stevenson. Most colleges offer credit for AP exam scores of 3 or higher. Of the students completing AP exams, 91.6 percent earned a score of 3 or higher on at least one test. The average score was 4.0 (on a scale of 1-5), the highest since 1998 - when the participation numbers were half of what they are today. Overall, 5,606 exams were taken, up nearly 8 percent from 2017. Nearly half of the student body, 2,018 out of 4,248, took at least one AP exam last spring. A record number of students wrote the most exams in school history, and the average score was the highest in 20 years. Stevenson’s Advanced Placement program had another banner year in 2017-18.
